Why are there so many different kinds of paint?

Paint is an affordable way to completely transform a room. The hardest part is not always selecting the color. Do you know how many shades of beige exist? Me neither.

Renovations in a modern home

An important part of this decision process is choosing the correct paint for the job and the quality you expect. Ever heard the saying, “You get what you pay for” ? Purchasing paint from a reputable paint or home improvement store is key. Off-brand paints or overstocks can have added water and even lower quality resins and oxides. We’ve all read tips on how to buy the mattress that is right for each of us – there’s even a mattress out now with an incline adjustment in case the person next to you is snoring! (Where has THAT been all my life, right?)

What you might not know is the importance of the atmosphere, the mattress, the linens, etc., when it comes to choosing the right mattress.  So I’ve found some tidbits that surprised me and I thought I’d share them.

This fascinates me (I don’t know why) . . . the most expensive mattress in the world!  It is made by a privately owned family company in Sweden – Hästens.

We all know, this is how it starts.  The sink drips.  A cabinet door is loose.  The plastic door handle breaks off the microwave.  Thousands over budget and six months later you have a brand new kitchen.

According to the 2014 Cost vs Value Report by Realtor® Magazine, the top remodel projects that provide the best return on investment are:

Major kitchen remodel – 63.6%

Bathroom remodel – 63.6%

New roof – 63.0%

Basement Remodel – 77.6%

Don’t have a foyer in your house or apartment? Here are some tips on how to create a relaxing and useful entrance to your home.
